Reach Out and Read
As part of our commitment to early literacy and enhanced child development, we are proud to partner with Reach Out and Read, a nationwide, evidence-based program based in medical offices. Research shows that parents served by ROR are up to four times more likely to read to their children, and children served show improved language development compared with other children and higher scores on vocabulary tests and school readiness assessments.
As part of the program, at every well visit from 6 months to 5 years old, each child receives a brand new book suitable for their age to take home and keep.
We also provide education on reading and literacy and have other office programs to promote early reading.
In our first year, we provided over 1,800 books to children!
The program is self-funded by our practice, along with donations from the community. In the near future, we hope to have a non-profit organization to support and expand this and other programs. Look for more information on how you can get involved soon!
