Prenatal Services

HERE FOR YOU ON EVERY STEP OF YOUR PARENTING JOURNEY

Our dedication to healthy babies and families begins before they are born.

Congratulations! Having a baby and becoming a parent is an incredibly rewarding and humbling experience. We consider ourselves blessed to be able to share this adventure with you. Our desire is to make this experience as easy and stress-free for you as possible. We love babies and have cared for thousands of newborns and their families over the years, as well as being parents ourselves.

It may seem a little unusual to you that a pediatrician is talking about prenatal services; however, at CCP we take a comprehensive approach to children’s health, beginning in pregnancy and even before. Our desire is that every baby will get the very healthiest start in life possible and be fully ready for the next stage of growth and development and that parents will feel confident and secure in caring for and nurturing their children.

Prenatal visits

Expecting parents are welcome to schedule a free, meet-the-doctor visit. You can meet Dr. Pulliam and his staff, see the office, and ask any questions you may have. You can also find many of the answers to common questions on our website before your visit. We do offer much more comprehensive care than get acquainted prenatal visits, including prenatal consultations and planning.

Classes

We offer classes for expecting parents! We have a Breastfeeding Basics class and a Newborn basics class. Both are designed to help you prepare for a successful start and feel confident and secure as you begin your parenting journey.

Vaccines for parents

In order to protect our youngest patients, we now provide these vaccines to pregnant women, fathers, and other family members who will be living with your baby. Even if you have already had your baby, it’s not too late! These vaccines are still recommended for mothers and caregivers to help protect the baby. Most babies who get whooping cough or flu get it from a family member.

Lactation visit

Many moms can benefit from a prenatal lactation consult. If you have questions or are at higher risk of breastfeeding problems,we encourage you to schedule a visit with a lactation consultant. We can even help you develop a breastfeeding plan for your time in the hospital and after you go home. Set yourself up for success in the critical first few weeks of breastfeeding.

Depression screening

Many people are aware of postpartum depression. However, pregnancy-related depression can occur at any point in the perinatal period. We can screen pregnant moms for signs of perinatal depression. We can also see if you are at higher risk of postpartum depression and discuss ways to prevent it.

Parent Education

Our desire is to equip parents to confidently and successfully care for and nurture their children, body, mind and spirit. One way that we can do this is to provide evidence-based health information and advice to parents at every stage of childhood. During the prenatal, newborn and infancy periods we try to provide extra information, especially for new parents. All of these guides and booklets were written by Dr. Pulliam and contain the latest evidence-based recommendations and guidelines. We print them here in the office and keep them continually updated.
